My Current Makeup Routine and Favourites

In this post, I have included my current favourite makeup products and the ones that I always have in my daily makeup bag. I don’t use all of these every day as I am also not a massive make-up wearer: I have at least 3/4 no makeup days a week. On days when I do apply make-up I only use concealer, powder, eyebrows and mascara. The other items that I have included, I only really wear for a special occasion, an event, or when I have more time to get ready.

BRUSHES

Real Technique Makeup Brushes and Sponges

Real Techniques brushes are amazing everyday brushes and their Core Collection Kits, Face and Eyes, are all the essential brushes that I need. They are also super soft and very easy to clean.

PRIMER

Pür Correcting Primer

I don’t use this very often, but when I do I really enjoy it. This primer gives a very smooth base to apply foundation on top of and evens out my skin. I really like this one in particular because it is oil-free and silicone-free and is also mattifying.

FOUNDATION/TINTED MOISTURISER

Estée Lauder Double Wear Light – Intensity 1.0

I have never been a fan of heavy coverage foundation as I do not feel that they sit right on my skin and I find they cause me to break out in spots or rashes. However the two I have mentioned here, although more expensive, seem to match my skin perfectly. The Estée Lauder Double Wear Light foundation is definitely light as the name would suggest and is long-wearing. I feel that it makes my skin look fresh, natural and feels very comfortable and breathable. I also find that it helps to control oil and is for the most past smudge proof.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue – Opal 01

This one is more like a tinted moisturiser and is a very hydrating gel cream with a sheer-to-medium coverage and leaves a naturally radiant finish. It is also SPF 30 which is great. It has natural ingredients which I love, including marine botanicals and mineral electrolytes that hydrate and boost the skin.

CONCEALER

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – Fair 1

This is one product that I swear by! In fact, I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t love this product. It is so accessible and inexpensive. I find that it conceals any imperfections and blemishes and stays in place all day.

POWDER

Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder – 10 Classic Ivory

I have been using this product for as long as I remember too and I love it. Matte Maker all-day powder instantly absorbs any oil and I find that it blends seamlessly with my skin tone and texture. It is also great for setting my concealer in place.

EYEBROWS

Soap & Glory Brow Archery – Dark Chocolate

This product is a super skinny, retractable, 2-in-1 brow filling pencil & brush. I tend to use the brush to push my eyebrow hairs in to positive and then use the pencil end to fill in any lighter or sparse areas. Having the two ends gives maximum control, helps to shape, define and leaves a thicker, fuller and most importantly for me, a natural finish.

Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer – Translucent

I recently discovered this product in M&S and I love it. I apply it over the top of the pencil which helps to set the hairs into place for the day. It is long-wearing and helps to define and shape instantly. It also feels very refreshing on the skin as it has a very soothing formula with aloe vera and panthenol that conditions my brow hairs and gives a natural, soft effect.

MASCARA

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara – Jet Black

I find that this mascara does not smudge and transfer onto my upper lid, which many I have tried in the past have. It gives my lashes length, hold and a full-lash and volumising effect, while keeping them looking natural and separated.

BLUSHER

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher – 34 Rose d’Or

I find that this blush is ultra-fine and an easy to blend powder, leaving the skin looking fresh and very natural. It is light and such a pretty colour. I also really like the packaging design; it has an integrated mirror and brush and is compact so perfect for your handbag.

EYESHADOW

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow – Marie Antoinette

This is a cream based product that is very easy to blend, quick to apply and can be very subtle, or built up to create a more smoky-looking result. I love this shade; it is almost like an antique oyster with a gold hue. It’s revolutionary water-infused formula has a cooling effect on hard-working eyes. It is a glide-on formula that won’t drag on the delicate eye area.

Urban Decay Basics Mini Eyeshadow Palette – Naked 2

I am a massive love of neutral matte eyeshadows so this palette is perfect. This product includes shades in flattering nude hues and fits in my makeup bag effortlessly, unlike some of the bigger palettes. The colours are all very pigmented and have a velvety texture, rich colour and staying power. They are soft and easy to blend together.

LIPS

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

This is one product that I apply multiple times a day. I have tried so many lip balms over the years and I have finally found one that I love and one that doesn’t leave my lips feeling sticky. It is super moisturising, nourishing and long-lasting. It helps to soften my lips, keeping them hydrated. It has a matte finish, glides on smoothly and has a hint of Peppermint Oil which leaves my lips with a refreshing tingle. I also love the fact that it is 100% natural.

The only thing that I feel like I am missing is a highlighter. I am on the hunt for a cream highlighter that is easy to blend and natural looking. If you have any recommendations, please leave me some suggestions.
